When it comes to timelessness and extravagance in design, nothing can quite upstage marble. From the resplendent Parthenon in Athens to Michelangelo’s masterpiece David in Italy—the splendour of it just can’t be mimicked by any other material. In contemporary times, marble remains a key element to create striking interiors, thanks to its astounding ability to persevere and stir up visual drama with seductive striations. To make things more interesting, global atelier—Cattelan Italia reimagines bespoke furniture with its flagship Keramik Collection using marble as a muse. These pieces also double up as stunning accents for your space.

Conceived in 2015, the Keramik Collection by Cattelan Italia initially featured 3 variations and currently stands tall with 14 offerings, each with a well-defined aesthetic. The brand also employs cutting-edge technology to achieve supreme resilience and top-notch finesse. With Borghini Calacatta, the latest addition to the Keramik Collection, the brand yet again unlocks a design concept that devotedly adorns a space with beauty, grandeur, and sophistication.

Introducing the new metamorphic marvel from Italy

Post the success of variants like Portoro, Golden Calacatta, and Sahara Noir, the brand is turning heads with Borghini Calacatta launched earlier this year in Milan. With a dazzling appearance, this ceramic is all things luxe, and even revered by great artists around the world. Inspired by the superlative veining design that’s pleasingly conspicuous on the elegant ivory background, Cattelan Italia has handpicked and scrupulously reproduced the natural textures of marble.

With two overlapping patterns, Borghini Calacatta masterfully plays with varying intensities of the softness and wideness of the streaks. This slab is embellished with striking ochre to shaded grey veins that effortlessly interlace with the refined ripples of warm hues. It is further swathed by a fine veil of capillary-like striations that accentuate the base’s nuance and irregularity.

Borghini Calacatta is available in a glossy iteration that shows off a faintly mirrored surface and a matt alternative exuding a silken feel. Highly versatile like other variants in the Keramik Collection, this piece can be used as a top for dining tables, desks, coffee tables, consoles, television stands, and sideboards. It makes for the perfect pick if you want to enrich your living or office space with an opulent statement piece.

The bold and the beautiful

Unveiled in 2022, Kaindy and Corcovado of the Keramik Collection, each elevate the vibe of your interiors with stylish designs boasting lush and subtle palettes.

With a rich jade hue punctuated with iridescent striations of green, blue, and grey, the Kaindy ceramic is reminiscent of a lagoon’s aerial shot. This exquisite piece flaunts gracefulness that fuses well with neutrals, an ideal option if you need a dash of colour added to your minimalist or understated furniture or interiors.

On the other hand, Corcovado embodies nature’s biggest lesson—the seamless coexistence of contrasting habitats, species, and societies. Integrating the delicate with the bold, this ceramic surface beams with lively, earthy tones underlined with a powdery base that’s further offset by darker specks, emanating a burnt appearance.

A perfect match for modern homes, Cattelan Italia’s perceptive interpretation of the brightest, darkest, and most delicate ceramics is a wonderful example of how brands can innovate a material to its highest potential, looking above and beyond the run-of-the-mill possibilities.
